Network overview

The ScaleEngine network actually consists of three distinct parts, each optimized for it's specific roles.

The Origin Web Cluster (OWC) networks, where sites are actually hosted using the ScaleEngine Hosting Platform; these networks are optimized for running web application languages such as PHP, and offer redundant load balanced replicated MySQL databases as well as large private memcache clusters.

The Content Distribution Network (CDN) is designed to quickly and effortlessly accelerate the delivery of media files. Whether its moving the image files off your main domain to decrease loading time by increasing concurrency or steaming video to a mass audience, our network of high throughput servers ensure speedy delivery without taxing your origin resources.

The Edge Side Caching (ESC) Network provides further content acceleration and also allows you to cache complete and partial content of your pages. Using the standardized Edge Side Includes (ESI) markup, you can have your application control the behaviour at the edge servers.

Presented here are a number of diagrams that show the relationships and the transactions between the different parts of the ScaleEngine network.
